Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell travelled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to summits and debate issues including and the Iran Contra scandal.
